Dragon Celebrates HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
The Dragon was a hive of activity in celebration of HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and delighted to be joined by Old Dragon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi (OD 1997) and his wife Princess Beatrice for the occasion. Unveiling our freshly constructed beehive to mark her grandmother’s special achievement, Princess Beatrice spoke to the children about the importance of bees and celebrated HM The Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

Pre-Prep Sports Day
Saturday 11 June

Pre-Prep Sports Day was a fantastic occasion for our youngest Dragons. There was a real buzz with the children enjoying a slick carousel of activities and a much-missed opportunity for parents to meet each other. Saturday morning finished with a flourish and celebration of the finale of QUEST where we were treated to a performance from a variety of QUEST activities including a ‘wow’ moment from our QUEST Prime Glee Choir.

The Kid Who Fell Into A Story
Summer Production

A brilliant cast of Dragons put on a fantastic production of The Kid Who Fell Into A Story, jumping from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Witches and James and the Giant Peach! Directed by Charlie Ponder, Head of Drama, the children delivered a high-quality, creative and colourful production of which they should be very proud. The set was created with thanks to Mr Osmond, made up of recycled interactive whiteboard boxes.

Fundraising For Ukraine
Our Touring choir, freshly returned from Choir Tour in Barcelona, performed a fantastic concert at Merton College Chapel, in Aid of our Dragon parent Medical Aid for Ukraine fundraising, making over £3500 on the day. As a School, we have a number of families acting as hosts to refugees and we are supporting them, and other local refugees, by offering English lessons and other activities.

Music Outreach | Gamelan Day
In April we christened our new Gamelan Orchestra within our ongoing Music Outreach programme. The wonderful collection of percussion instruments was a recent commission funded by The Woodward Trust and handcrafted and beautifully painted in Indonesia specially for us, complete with carved Dragon crests and the School motto. All of Year 5 from Phil and Jim’s Primary School joined with D Block Dragons in a full day of educational and exciting workshops, including learning an Indonesian ‘deer’ dance led by local expert Made Pujawati, making shadow puppets, and engaging in storytelling with Ma Braden, alongside having hands-on experience of playing the Gamelan itself under the excellent tutelage of Isabelle Carré. Much fun was had by all the children, collaborating in the workshops and enjoying their play times together.
