We are delighted to announce that all year groups are returning to the Dragon before the end of term. We are very aware of how much the children have missed being with their friends and teachers (despite daily contact through our Virtual Holistic Curriculum) and it is heart-warming to see them back in School and enjoying the sunshine. We are especially thrilled that many of the A Block/Year 8 pupils are getting a chance to say a proper farewell before starting at their senior schools in the Autumn. Our boarders are, as ever, very much in our thoughts. Lessons will continue online to allow them to interact with their classmates and prize-givings this year will be virtual ceremonies timed to allow participation by children in the UK and overseas.
Throughout the pandemic, we have been proud to support the children of key workers at the Dragon each day. Following government guidelines, pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 returned to School on 1st June (with numbers growing each week) and other year groups have returned on a phased basis with Year 3 enjoying time at the Prep site allowing them to look forward to September.
The safety of all members of the Dragon community is paramount. Additional handwashing stations have been installed at both the Pre-Prep and Prep sites and the cleaners are working incredibly hard to ensure the highest hygiene standards. In accordance with the social distancing guidelines for schools, young Dragons spend their time in a fixed ‘bubble’ of a maximum of 15 children. This has required detailed logistical planning which staff have approached with a spirit of teamwork and positivity demonstrating how keen everyone has been to hear the happy sounds of young Dragons again.
