Sebastian Goes Back to School

Jan 21, 2021

Sebastian Croft (OD 2015) is starring in Rebellion’s first feature film, ‘School’s Out Forever’, based on the book School’s Out in the Scott K. Andrews trilogy. The film, being released next month, follows a 15-year old school boy, Lee, (played by Oscar Kennedy) who is expelled from his private school only to find an apocalyptic event has wiped out most of the world’s population. Lee is given one instruction: go back to school. He stocks up on supplies and bunkers down in his dorms with his fellow students, but they all find themselves on their own survival mission when the school comes under siege by the local parish council.

Filmed in 2019, before the pandemic, ‘School’s Out Forever’ went into post-production early last year. Starring alongside Old Dragon, Sebastian Croft (‘Game of Thrones’), is Samantha Bond (‘Tomorrow Never Dies’), Alex Macqueen (‘The Inbetweeners’), Gordon Alexander (‘Gangs of London’), and Freya Parks (‘Jane Eyre’).

We caught up with Bash and asked what it was like to shoot a film about a pandemic, before the world experienced its own …

“We shot ‘Schools Out Forever’ in the summer of 2019, long before words like ‘pandemic’ and ‘isolation’ were common place terms. Whilst the film takes the idea of a pandemic to a further extreme than the one we currently live in, it does amaze me how many things that seemed ridiculous and other worldly when I first read the script, now seem somewhat normal.

Whilst it’s set with the back drop of a pandemic, it is very much a light-hearted film, that follows how teenagers react when left alone to look after themselves (I like to say it’s a ‘Lord of the Flies’ meets ‘Home Alone’). I played a small part in the creation of this film, so I feel I’m third party enough to say that it is a really good film that is both current but also doesn’t feel too doom and gloom with everything going on in the world at the moment – it’s light hearted!

Being set at a boarding school, I’m sure some of the Dragons will enjoy seeing what might have happened, had they needed to defend the school from enemy invasions … Enjoy!”

School’s Out Forever’ is set for digital release on 15 February and on DVD and Blu-ray on 12 April.
