I was brought up in Norfolk, attended Norwich High School for Girls (GDST), before heading to Exeter University, to read Latin. I went on to study law at the College of Law in Guildford, completing my training at Herbert Smith where I joined the Litigation Department. As a commercial litigation lawyer, I have handled a variety of cases over the years, from prosecuting illegal taxi drivers at Heathrow Airport to defending a company accused of stealing trade secrets. I worked for various law firms in London between having children, most recently McGuireWoods, an American law firm in the City.

We moved out of London in 2015 to my husband’s home city of Oxford. I decided to have a break from law and having been involved with various schools over the years in Tower Hamlets and Putney, started to volunteer at Windale Primary School in the reading scheme set up by the Dragon. I realised how much I enjoyed working in education and a school environment and having looked at many schools for my own 3 children, I know how important a friendly and professional admissions department is! We have experienced the many dilemmas surrounding finding the right schools and relocating to Oxford that so many families I speak to now are contemplating.  I have had 2 boys go through the Dragon and as a parent, have seen first hand the many opportunities on offer here and how Dragon children thrive, busy and happy.

I love reading and cooking in my spare time, when not driving my children to various sports fixtures around the country!

Following school life in Sussex and reading Biochemistry at Warwick University, I spent three further years in research. I put my PhD to use in the pharmaceutical industry working in a Biotechnology Discovery unit ahead of a career change. Senior school teaching in the state sector followed a PGCE; a move to Oxford and the Dragon, led me to life as a Houseparent, a Science Teacher and Sustainability Programme Co-ordinator.

As Admissions Registrar, I now meet all families who are considering a Dragon education for their children. Whilst not teaching anymore, I still experience the energy and purpose of our Dragons on a daily basis as they go about their learning: ever curious, endlessly creative, determined and rarely taking themselves too seriously.

Outside school – and when not following a cricket game somewhere – I spend time with family and friends at our home in Normandy. It is here that I can indulge in some reading and card playing whilst undertaking some serious research about French wine and Normandy cheese – all from the comfort of a hammock. My love of trees also means regular planting any addition to our mini arboretum.

I was born in Oxford and studied Events and Festival Management at Buckinghamshire University, whilst working part time in Retail. Once I finished studying I worked for the Oxfordshire County Council as an Administrative Officer before joining the Admissions team at the Dragon.
