2021 Leavers

Dragon News |

A huge well done and congratulations to our A Block (Year 8) leavers this year! They have demonstrated incredible industry, adaptability and resilience over the last 18 months and achieved excellent results in Common Entrance and Scholarship exams and assessments. Over half of CE grades were A*/A and Dragons have won 51 Scholarships, Exhibitions and Awards recognising their academic and extra-curricular achievements.

Representatives of 20 senior schools visited the Dragon for Future Schools’ Day in June which was an excellent opportunity for the children to find out more about the schools they are going to. The visitors were welcomed by Shelley Smith, Head of Future Schools, toured the Dragon and talked to their respective group of pupils about what to expect in September.

Full details of 2021 destinations and awards can be seen on our Future Schools’ page.

Expedition week was the perfect way to unwind after exams and the Dragons had an unforgettable week with their friends and teachers in Devon, Wales or the Lake District. The days were spent doing a variety of active pursuits including coasteering, canoeing, mountain biking and rock climbing – what a contrast to the months spent learning in lockdown! A Block’s last week has been incredibly busy as per Dragon tradition – with Upper School prize-giving, the Leavers’ service, fantastic A Block Revue and the punting and BBQ evening leading up to the exciting finale of Sports Day.

Here is a message from Head of Year, Ma Crook: ‘A Block have been such a fun, adaptable and courageous year group. They have consistently made the most of all the opportunities that have been available to them throughout the pandemic year and are never afraid to step forward, be brave and give it everything they have got. We wish them all the very best for the future and hope they will return for future OD events to tell us how their next chapter is going.’
