Ensembles at Dragon School

Music EnsemblesOne of the unique strengths of the music department is the ensemble programme and the sheer range of activities on offer. Pupils in all year groups are encouraged to join in ensembles as soon as they are able to play or sing a few notes! Playing music with others is vital to the development of every musician and is fun too. The school gives protected time during the week so that the students can benefit from coaching from professional full time and visiting specialists. Year group ensembles take place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. The groups are given opportunities to perform in public concerts held at the end of each term. Current year group ensembles include the following:

Advanced Groups

In addition to the provision for players and singers in all year groups, the music department also operates pre-selected groups for those who are of advanced ability for their age. This includes both chamber groups and larger wind, string and vocal groups. Membership is by invitation or audition. The pre-select groups often perform at external events and the larger ensembles have performed on tour to destinations including Belgium, Venice, Germany and France.
