Nicholas Knatchbull (OD 1978), was tragically killed alongside other members of his family when a bomb exploded on their fishing boat off Mullaghmore, County Sligo, in Ireland, on 27 August 1979. The Nicholas Knatchbull Travel Grant was set up in his memory to offer financial assistance to Old Dragons wishing to take part in activities and expeditions which encourage initiative and foster understanding between young people both in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Many Old Dragons, particularly those preparing for a gap year, have applied for and received grants. Should a grant be awarded, the OD is asked to either write a report or deliver a Spectrum talk at the School about their trip. You can read a selection of past reports here.

Grants are awarded twice yearly in early May and November, so please ensure your application is received well in advance.

Please complete the below application form or contact Ed Phelps, Secretary of the Nicholas Knatchbull Travel Grant, for more information.
