The Big Splash
The Dragon has been crowned National
ESSA Boys Champions for Primary
Schools Swimming, making it the
only school in Oxfordshire ever to have
achieved this.
Banding Together
In 2009 the Dragon Concert Band
reached the finals of the National
Festival of Music for Youth.
london Star
A Dragon was selected to take part in
a touring production of Chitty Chitty
Bang Bang. He then went on to the
West End to star in Oliver! and in Les
Misérables as Gavroche.
The Big Buzz
The Dragon now has its own apiary, run
by children and staff at the school. The
delicious honey from the Dragon hives
is available from Taylors of Oxford – look
for jars of ‘Dragon Nectar’.
green Flag
The Dragon was awarded the
coveted Eco Schools Green Flag in
2010 – the internationally recognised
environmental programme was
undertaken by the children to improve
sustainability practices across the
school.
BBC Success
The Dragon Chamber Choir were
runners-up in the BBC ‘Songs of Praise
Junior Choir of the Year Competition’
in spring this year, beating 135 other
schools.
gone for gold
A Dragon won Gold at the National
Athletic Finals in Birmingham in 2010
and she broke 14 school athletics
records during her time at the Dragon.
national Singer
A Dragon was selected to join the
National Youth Choir of Great Britain
late last year.
Oxford Music
In February this year, over 200 of the
best musicians from the Dragon and
the Dragon Pre-prep, Lynams, gave an
outstanding concert in the spectacular
surroundings of the Sheldonian
Theatre in Oxford.
giving Big
The Dragon has worked with the
charity The Big Give for two years,
to develop a philanthropy template
for schools. The programme teaches
principles of philanthropy and
intelligent giving to children of all ages.
Harry Potter dragons
A Dragon starred with OD Emma
Watson in the final instalment of Harry
Potter, performing as Harry’s second
son, Albus Severus Potter.
Sporting Stars
Dragons have performed at county
and regional level in rugby, cricket,
netball, tennis, fencing and judo
over the last 2 years.
dragons Today
A bi-annual newsletter for prospective
parents was launched in 2010. Dragons
Today provides news and features
about the Dragon for those considering
the school for their children.
dragon Website
The website “look” was updated
in 2010. It is frequently updated
with images and news of school
achievements and events.
