Congratulations to ODs Naji Abu Nowar (1995) and Rupert Lloyd (1994) for their exceptional debut film Theeb, winning the 'Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer' at the 2016 BAFTAs. Theeb was also nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars and Abu Nowar won Variety's 2014 Arab Director of the Year. Set during WW1, the film explores the impact of an external culture on a young Bedouin, Theeb, and his tribe. Naji told the Guardian, "If you love what you do, then no matter what your level of success you will be happy. I don't need an Oscar or any awards or success to be happy, because making films does that for me."
