Art Trip to St IvesExtra-curricular Activities and Trips

Every day sees an extra-curricular activity offered and our Middle School and Upper School pre-selected groups aim to further extend skills, knowledge and a passion for art. In the past we have taken groups to a variety of galleries and sculpture parks e.g. Henry Moore, Hertfordshire, and The New Art Centre at Roche Court, where the work observed is used to inspire the pupil’s own project work. With the amazing wonders of the Ashmolean, Natural History Museum and Modern Art Oxford, when time permits we also use the galleries and museums on our doorstep, and visit when the project work and time permits. In the past we have had a personal tour of the Jenny Saville exhibition at the Ashmolean and the Post Exam Group had an amazing trip to the Story Museum and Modern Art Oxford to inspire their artwork.

Every September A group of artistic Year 8 pupils get the chance to spend a long weekend in St Ives where we soak up the art, culture and landscape of the region. The trip is a real turning point for many of our young artsits.

In the Upper School we run a pre-selected Potential Art Scholars group where the most talented artists are offered extra sessions with the aim of building a portfolio to take to their senior school on the Scholarship day. In the last few years, we have won awards to a a range of senior schools including Marlborough, Headington, Abingdon, MCS, Rugby, Wellington, St Edwards and Radley.
