The Governors are committed to broadening access to the School by offering transformational bursaries to children whose families would not otherwise be able to afford the fees. The Dragon offers approximately five bursary places each year to new applicants to Year 4 (exceptionally, those coming up from Dragon Pre-Prep or applying to join in older year groups may be considered). There is a selection process designed to identify boys and girls with the potential to make the most of the opportunities provided by a Dragon education.
Bursaries are means-tested in accordance with the criteria set out in the School’s Means Tested Bursary Policy. The level of support varies according to parental need and can extend to full fee remission in cases of proven need. Bursaries are awarded for the duration of a child’s time in the Prep School and are reviewed annually.
Armed Forces Discount
The Forces Discount is a scheme for those in receipt of the CEA; a discount of 20% of fees will apply if Dragon boarding begins in the junior years (Years 4 to 6). Once awarded, the discount will continue through to, and inclusive of, Year 8 as long as the child continues to board and the family remains in receipt of the CEA grant.
Dragon School offers a 7.5% discount against boarding fees to parents who are employees of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office who are also in receipt of the CEA grant and whose children enter the School to board in Years 4 to 6 inclusive. Once awarded, the discount will continue through to, and inclusive of, Year 8 as long as the child continues to board and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office employee remains in receipt of the CEA grant.
