Swimming now takes place throughout the whole year, both in games time and in PE lessons. This is possible because of the fantastic indoor pool which was built on the site of the old outdoor pool in 2000. The Head of PE is also a specialist swimming coach and he has taken the performance of the elite teams to new levels in the last twelve months with several medals being won at the National Prep Schools Championships in Sheffield. The school hosts the regional qualifying rounds for the IAPS championships and fixture list of more local galas has grown considerably. The whole school participates in relays which take place five times during the year, giving every child the opportunity of racing against others of similar ability whilst representing their form. A trophy is awarded to the form that collects the most points during the year.
Riding at the Dragon has become extremely popular in the last few years. The team competes in several events and in 2004 the team won the 2004 Prep Schools Competition. In 2006 they won the regional round and came close to repeating their national success. This year there were several excellent individual and team performances in competitions like Stonar and Princethorpe.
Tennis is possible for those who are good enough to be part of the Esporta Tennis Academy. The school has a good link with the sports club and they offer winter and spring indoor training to our better tennis players. In the summer, most tennis activity takes place on the school courts.
Golf has become increasingly popular in the last few years with a number of fixtures organised against other schools as well as the development of an internal competition. There are opportunities to go to a local driving range or play on local courses. In 2005 the 1st team became the IAPS champions and also won the prestigious Stowe Putter Competition, a feat which was repeated in 2006. In 2008 they won the Bradfield College Prep School's Tournament.
