Policy StatementsBullyingThe Dragon School policy states clearly that the bullying by one member of our community of another will not be tolerated. It also aims to raise awareness in all members of the community of the various forms of bullying behaviour which exist (physical, verbal, psychological) and to educate them in ways of identifying and dealing with incidents of bullying if they arise. We aim to prevent incidents of bullying behaviour wherever possible and to provide anyone who feels that they have suffered such behaviour from another with the confidence to confide in others; we also aim to ensure that any person who has shown bullying behaviour is counselled and/or sanctioned appropriately. Equal OpportunitiesThe Dragon School is a co-educational school, committed to the policy of Equal Opportunities in relation to its pupils and its employees. The School's policy aims to ensure that no pupil or prospective pupil receives more or less favourable treatment on the grounds of race, colour, creed, nationality, gender or disability. Race RelationsAs a school we are committed to a policy which promotes and encourages good race relations between all members of our community and all outside parties. We aim to ensure that no pupil or member of staff will discriminate against another on grounds of race, colour, ethnic origin, religion, nationality or creed. Disability and DiscriminationThe Dragon school is not able to provide for severely disabled pupils requiring specialist support, however we are very willing to consider for entry individuals who would be able to develop their potential in our environment. Each potential pupil would be considered individually and, if it is practicable, given sufficient support for his/her particular disability, then s/he would be welcome to join the school subject to the usual assessment processes. Safeguarding ChildrenThe School's Safeguarding Children policy deals with the essential issues implicit in Child Protection. There is a wide range of adults to whom pupils can turn for help and these are listed on a pupil leaflet which is distributed to all pupils in the summer mailing each year and is displayed at various locations around the school. Complaints ProcedureMost pupils will experience an anxiety or a worry of some sort during their time at school. In most situations the Tutor will be able to address the problem and find a solution quickly. However if this does not feel appropriate to the child, we encourage children to talk about their concerns to anyone they feel comfortable with. A leaflet listing some of the people they might consider talking to is given to each child; this leaflet ('For Dragons') also includes information on how to make a formal statement should they feel that this is necessary. |
