Eco Warriors - The First Team

The group spent the first part of the term group planning some very impressive power point presentations and researching endangered species of animals. We were all given a great insight into the lives of giant pandas, polar bears, different types of monkeys and even a rare species of snake. The children really enjoyed presenting their ideas and we all became much wiser and more aware of the impact global warming, deforestation and pollution is having on the animal kingdom.

The group were then involved in an eco friendly house design project. We looked at various forms of sustainable energy and considered the pros and cons of each. The students were particularly keen on the idea of developing ‘green’ houses with vegetation on the roof, mini wind turbines, free range, organic chickens and solar panels galore. They had great fun working in pairs on this project and I was very impressed with their already sound knowledge of Eco friendly strategies such as rain water collection barrels, recycling, energy saving light bulbs and electric cars. They produced A3 drawings of their designs and shared their ideas with the group at the end. We certainly have several budding eco architects in the making and many ideas fit for ‘Grand Designs’!
