Action Team Update

The Eco Action Teams have met regularly this term and have been discussing the results from their online Environmental Review. This audit asked staff and children questions on what they thought about environmental practices in school, addressing the areas of energy, waste, water, recycling, healthy eating and boarding.

It has been decided that the focus of Eco Action this term will be Energy and its conservation. There were many ideas discussed and put forward to help address this in different areas of the school and these have been entered into our growing Action Plan. Some are simple reminders asking people to turn off lights and computers, or remembering to close the windows. Others include looking at longer term solutions such as extending our use of lighting sensors around the school.
Some of the Action Team members are now doing some further research into our energy usage around school by reading meters and using temperature loggers to collect data about heating.
Mr Poyntz, our Estates Bursar, has also come along to talk to the Action Teams about longer term projects of heating and lighting systems.

The Action Teams are now starting to feed back to their forms and year groups about some of the ideas and action plans. Pupils will soon be able to access eco initiatives via the pupil intranet.
