"The Dragon is a very modern traditional school - an exciting place to be as our unique name suggests. The school hums with life and laughter and boys and girls, teachers and staff apply themselves with enormous energy to creating a wonderful environment for learning. The Dragon is a learning community in which life-long learning for a rapidly changing world is seen as a priority. In a more conventional sense, our academic reputation speaks for itself and we are proud of the achievements of all Dragons across a wide academic spectrum.

True to the radical principles of Skipper Lynam in the late C19th and early C20th, the Dragon today provides "full scope for all of imagination and originality in a child" - and prepares children for life in the C21st. This includes a breadth of intellectual, philosophical and physical challenge. It means an expansive academic curriculum, a wonderful programme of sport and an extraordinary creative output of music, drama and art. It also means looking outward to the world and the lives of others through travel, exchanges, service to the community and an understanding of philanthropy in its widest sense.

We encourage the development of the whole child without the burden of too many rules. Instead, we nurture the individual in a community based on fairness, respect and kindness where adults and children are considerate of each other. All Dragons, whether day children or boarders, whether from round the corner or across the world, share a distinguishing spirit. Imaginative, compassionate, intelligent, empathetic and determined, the Dragons of today can become the leaders of tomorrow.
