Religious Studies are taught as part of the creative curriculum topics where links can be made and as a discrete subject when this isn’t possible. Relevant issues are developed and discussed further in class assemblies, whole school assemblies and PSHEE/Circle Times.
The aim is for the children to grow in their understanding of Christian and World faiths, encouraging an attitude of mutual respect and awareness of different views and opinions.
The lessons introduce the children to what messages holy books give us, how different faiths celebrate and how the they are similar or different to each other.
Discussion, questioning, story, drama and art are considered the most valuable approaches to the subject at this age.
