Whilst at Oxford High School, Karen won the national competition ‘Young Pianist of the Year’ and went on to read Music at London University, subsequently winning a post-graduate scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music with Hamish Milne and Geoffrey Pratley. Specializing in chamber music, she won the major accompaniment and chamber music prizes going on to make appearances at the Purcell Room, including the Park Lane Contemporary Series, on BBC Radio and Classic fM as well as on television. Tours in Great Britain have been under the auspices of the Countess of Munster, John Tunnell, National Federation of Music Societies and the Making Music Recital Schemes. Concerts throughout the United States and Europe include recitals given with principal players from the Royal Concertgebouw, LPO, and Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Recent projects include concerts with members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in the orchestra’s ‘Chamber Music Series’. Karen has also toured extensively with the clarinettist, Sue Gill, both as a duo and as member of the ensemble ‘Erard’. As well as performing Karen also has a busy teaching career now as Head of Keyboard at the Dragon having previously taught at St John’s Beaumont, New College School and Colet Court.
