Dragon is Prep School of the Year |

The Dragon has been awarded Prep School of the Year by Tatler magazine.
At its 8th annual school awards, which launched the Tatler Schools Guide 2012, the Headmaster was presented with a silver cup. Speaking after the event in London on Monday, 12th September, Editor of the Tatler Schools Guide Alice Rose said:
“All the schools in our guide are exceptional in their own way, but the Dragon really stood out for us this year. Scholarships galore, endless sporting victories, honey-selling, Latin-teaching, entrepreneurship a-go-go – we were incredibly impressed by everything we saw and heard on our visit. All this and a superlatively good headmaster, too. A very worthy winner of our Prep School of the Year award for 2011.”
The Dragon is delighted to appear once again in the The Tatler’s selection of the top prep and public schools in the UK. Described in their 2012 Guide as a ‘powerhouse prep’ at the very top of its game, the Dragon’s outstanding scholarship record, philanthropy teaching, and national singing success are noted as distinguishing points. “This powerhouse prep is still at the very top of its game – last year it pocketed a combined 38 scholarships and awards and came second in the BBC’s Choir of the Year competition, and all-round sporting victories are taken as read. But head John Baugh doesn’t want Dragons to rest on their laurels and is encouraging pupils to look outwards at their ‘wider responsibilities in society’. Year 6 made national headlines when they started teaching Latin in local schools; honey from the new beehives is on sale in Oxford delis and pupils run their stalls at the famous Dragon Sale with gusto. We’ve got little philanthropists and entrepreneurs on our hands here. And Old Dragons will be more than happy to hear that bun break, eggy and marbles are still alive and well.”
