Boarding
“Pupils are offered boarding experiences within warm and homely environments which are supportive, nurturing and inclusive. Pupils needs are at the heart of the school and all pupils have a very strong voice within the school. They are encouraged to participate in every aspect of school life and clearly feel at home within the school community.

The provision is outstanding.”

The Dragon has a long tradition of boarding. The boarding community is at the very heart of this thriving, co-educational school. More than a third of our preparatory pupils are boarders and all our houseparents, boarding and other teaching staff contribute hugely to its success. The School prides itself on creating a family atmosphere where the children feel happy and safe.

Boarders comprise about 250 of the children from Years 4 through to 8 at the Dragon. We have children who board from local, national and international backgrounds. About 16% of our boarders are from British families living abroad and 4% are foreign nationals from a wide range of countries.

“The promotion of equality and diversity is outstanding. Evidence supports a consistent commitment towards improving equality and diversity in practice. Boarders’ individual needs are very well met and the school promotes an ethos of mutual respect and cooperation.”
