Easter TermFor their first three years the boys do half a term of football and half a term of hockey. In their final two years they opt to do one of these, depending on personal preferences or the sport played at their future schools. Each sport can field as many as eight teams on match days. Boys also compete in several Sevens Rugby competitions. The 1st VII squad compete annually in the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens Tournament, the biggest competition in the world, and have regularly featured in the quarter-finals over the last decade. Netball is the main sport for Girls in the Easter Term. With the advantage of the new astros, there are more courts than ever before. The girls play in year groups and every girl will play in at least one match with the As and Bs having as many as 12. The senior teams have entered the IAPS netball tournament in the last few years. Cross Country is a popular voluntary activity for boys and girls. There are races for each year group at the end of term and there are several external competitions, including the National Prep Schools Competition in Malvern. A number of Dragon families enjoy Skiing and while a huge number join the annual pilgrimage to Davos (through the Dragon Ski Club), there are many who organise their own winter fun. Several children have competed for the school in the British Schoolboys International Races in recent years and in 2006 at Les Menuires, the school came 3rd in the overall team competition. |
