ArtThe children participate in a wide range of activities to develop their creative talents including painting and drawing, print making, collage, model-making and a variety of other media and processes. Art lessons provide the children with the opportunity to explore, enjoy, discuss and respond to a variety of art, craft and design forms. Art is seen as an integral part of the whole curriculum and is often used to complement and be complemented by, other areas of the curriculum. We have a large and well equipped art room. Art is taught by all class teachers and there is a specialist art teacher who works mainly with Year 3 and advises throughout the school. The school has taken part in Oxford Arts Week and national and local competitions. Children's work is celebrated and displayed colourfully throughout the school. Design and TechnologyDT lessons throughout the age range focus on the skills of designing and making. Designing skills are developed through communicating ideas, generating and developing ideas, drawing plans, investigating and evaluating. Making skills are developed through planning, using a variety of tools, measuring and marking out, cutting and shaping, joining and combining. Children develop these skills through focused practical tasks. Design and Technology is also used to broaden other curriculum areas. It draws on the children's knowledge from other subjects and enhances their work, therefore making the projects cross curricular. |
