Safeguarding advice regarding tutorsIf the school arranges a tutor for a child then the recruitment procedure will be in line with our standard recruitment practise for all staff, teaching or non-teaching, full time, part-time or volunteer, as set out in: Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education (01 January 2007) which includes Enhanced CRB check, verified identity and references. Our whole policy can be found on the policies tab in the left-hand menu. If a parent wishes to employ a tutor outside of the school then we strongly recommend, along with the Local Authority for Safegaurding and Education, that you follow the key checks of verifying identity and checking references as well as Enhanced CRB. If a child does have private tutoring, parents should inform the child’s Tutor in order that the school is aware of this provision. Whilst we understand that tutoring might be helpful in certain cases - absence through illness, for new entrants etc- it is important for parents to appreciate that all children need a rest from their studies in order to become effective learners throughout the year.
