The R K Ingram Memorial Fund

Keith Ingram was one of the great Headmasters with an extraordinary sense of humanity and humility. All who were taught by, worked with, or knew him, carry precious memories of a very special man.

Keith grew up in Wimbledon and was educated at King’s College School, Wimbledon and Brasenose College, Oxford. His own family had difficulty in finding funds to educate him and his brother and sister – as did so many families of his generation. Many is the uncle and godfather who saved the day.

Even before the current economic crisis, some Dragons have not been able to complete their time at the School for a variety of reasons, including loss of a job or a parent. The R K Ingram Memorial Fund will act as that uncle and godfather, providing support for current Dragon pupils when changing family circumstances make the fees unaffordable.

We hope to raise a sum at least equal to the £265,000 raised in Guv’s memory. While Guv’s Memorial Fund is used to provide bursaries for children who would never have been able to come to the Dragon, Inky’s Memorial Fund will help ensure Dragons will not have to leave prematurely.

On his retirement, Keith devoted a lot of his time to the Joint Educational Trust which supports children in education where family circumstances become very difficult. We know this Memorial Fund would meet with his approval.

The R K Ingram Memorial Fund Appeal was launched in October 2008 and over 135 Old Dragons, parents and staff have made contributions in Inky’s memory. The Fund currently stands at over £80,000 and we are grateful to those who have contributed so far. If you would like to join them in this effort, please use the donation form here .
