From the Headmaster
Anthony Seldon Talk
Dr Anthony Seldon (Master, Wellington College) is coming to speak on 'The Rapidly Changing World of Senior Schools' on Wednesday, September 22 at 7.00 p.m. in the Lynam Hall. He has promised that this will not be a hard sell on Wellington and it should be interesting to hear his views. There will be some refreshments on offer so it would be good to get an idea of numbers. If you would like to attend, please e-mail my PA,

Spectrum
Last week we welcomed Steve Cunningham to the Dragon for the first of this year’s Spectrum events. Steve is billed as the “fastest blind man on earth “having set speed records on land and water in spite of being completely blind. He has also flown around the British Isles. Steve told the story of how he became blind at the age of twelve and how he refused to let this affect his determination to live life to the full. His web site tells the full story here.
There is a change to this week’s Spectrum programme. Many of the ODs we were hoping to get in are unable to visit this week and their talks will be rearranged for next term. This week, using the Film ‘Home’ by Yann Arthus Bertand, we will look at our impact on our home (the Planet), how we look after our home and what are our priorities, responsibilities, challenges and opportunities for the future. Click here for further information. The programme will be led by Danny Gill.

Fees by Direct Debit
As parents probably know, we are moving towards all school fees being paid by direct debit. However, direct debit rules require a separate mandate for each pupil and in the case of siblings this means one per child. Please see ‘how to pay school fees’ for further information and mandates to complete and return to the bursary.
Busy Boarders

The boys of School House have enjoyed an action packed first weekend. They started with mini Olympics on Saturday afternoon, the highlights of which were ‘shove ha' penny’ (see main picture) and having the chance to beat Ma Landy in the outdoor table tennis arena. This was followed by a fun trip to Shotover Woods on Sunday where the School House boys played bombers and fighters against the boys from Gunga Din. A great time was had by all!
Skiing Dragons
The Dragon Ski Club warmly welcomes any families new to the school to join the annual trip to Davos over the February half-term. This is a great opportunity to meet up with other Dragon families and staff. There are still places available for families and also for unaccompanied children over 10. For further details please click here.
London Chamber Orchestra Concert
Helen & Douglas House hospice and the London Chamber Orchestra invite Dragon School parents to join them for the opening concert of the LCO's 90th Anniversary Season on 30 September at 7.30pm.
